  • Public utility company of Ulm/Neu-Ulm assigns order for construction of wood gas cogeneration plant
  • Unique pilot project in Germany
  • Record amount of incoming orders by end of October 2009 of more than EUR 62.0 million (increase of 50 percent)

Kulmbach, 2 November 2009: AGO AG Energie + Anlagen (cusip number: A0LR41 / ISIN: DE000A0LR415) was awarded a major order by the public utility company SWU Stadtwerke Ulm/Neu-Ulm GmbH for the construction of a wood gas cogeneration plant in Senden. The order volume for the construction amounts to approximately EUR 17.0 million.

The plant ordered is currently a one-of-a-kind pilot project in terms of technology and size. AGO AG has already started with the plant’s engineering. Apart from the actual wood gasification unit, one ORC module and two cogeneration units will be used for generating electricity. The heat generated is then to be fed into a district heating network. The regenerative plant’s construction is planned to start in the summer of 2010 and will be completed after about a one-year period. The contract parties agreed not to disclose any further project details.

The project’s total costs amount to approximately EUR 33.0 million, of which EUR 6.6 million are funded by the Federal Ministry for food, agriculture and consumer protection, represented by the Agency for re-growing raw materials, with funds from the aid program for re-growing raw materials.

By the end of October 2009 the amount of incoming orders for AGO AG Energie + Anlagen exceeds EUR 62.0 million. Compared to the same period in the previous year, AGO could increase their incoming orders by about 50 percent.

„The order awarded by the public utility company of Ulm in the amount of about EUR 17.0 million is one of the largest orders ever in AGO AG’s company history after the implementation of the Energy Center for AMD in Dresden in the amount of EUR 25.2 million in 2005. Contrary to the general market situation, we have record incoming orders of more than EUR 62.0 million in October 2009. Even in such difficult economic times, our innovative performance in terms of the technology we use and the quick project implementation is in great demand. As current orders show, energy suppliers in particular have recognized that AGO AG is a well-qualified partner for planning and constructing energy supply plants. Therefore, we are expecting AGO AG to sustainably grow, also in the future, says Helmut Peetz, BOD of AGO AG Energie + Anlagen.
