AGO AG starts up high pressure steam storage plant for EnBW
- AGO is sole contractor for construction project
- € 6.5 million order volume
- 150 MW thermal energy output at short notice
- New line of business for AGO
- Steam storage: 54 bar and 380°C
Kulmbach, 19 April 2010: AGO AG Energie + Anlagen, Kulmbach (WKN: A0LR41, ISIN: DE000A0LR415), has successfully started up a high pressure steam storage and high pressure hot water plant in Heilbronn for EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG, one of the largest energy providers in Germany. AGO AG has the exclusive engineering contract on this project.
The order volume for the installed system totalled around € 6.5 million. The energy plant is able to compensate for the shut-down of individual block-units and produce substantial amounts of energy until replacement units are commissioned.
Both heating systems installed by AGO AG are able to produce 150 MW thermal energy at short notice. This covers the hourly heat consumption of 15,000 households on a cold winter’s day. The plant weighs a total of 800,000 kg when in use and measures 23 m in height.
“EnBW’s order has given AGO AG Energie + Anlagen the chance to operate in a new line of business. For the first time in the thirty-year history of our Company, we have constructed steam storage tanks that can withstand 54 bar and 380°C. We have broken new ground by working with such high temperatures and pressure while being exclusively responsible for the entire construction process. Once we have successfully completed this contract, we hope that EnBW will place follow-up orders with us. They are one of our largest customers and we are also working on other contracts for them.” explains Hans Ulrich Gruber, CEO of AGO AG Energie + Anlagen.
In a small ceremony on 12 April 2010, EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG thanked AGO AG for the short construction time, strict adherence to deadlines, quality of the plant and its flawless operation during the trial run.
